DOUBLETS are made by bonding a thin piece of
opal usually one to three mm thick to a backing material Queensland Boulder . All stones
displayed on this page are Doublets.
If this opal, being in
loose stone form or set in jewellery, naturally alters in any way within two
years of the date of purchase, i.e.; fades, crazes or develops fine fracture
lines. We will replace the stone with a stone of equivalent or greater value, to
your satisfaction.
This Guarantee does not
include damage to the stone caused by mishandling in any way. This includes
exposure to excessive heat or cold, as in flames or ice. Or if the stone has
been cracked or broken by any force that is not deemed by us to be 'natural and
from within'
After a long period of
wear, opal may lose it's 'shine'. This can be rectified by taking it to a
jeweller or lapidarist for a repolishing.
